Walk and Talk Counselling Sessions
Walk and talk counselling involves engaging in a therapeutic conversation while walking outdoors, rather than sitting in a traditional therapy setting.
This approach can take place in parks, nature reserves, or other green spaces, allowing you to benefit from the natural environment while discussing your thoughts and feelings. Walking in nature can lead to enhanced creativity and problem solving as movement is linked to being able to think more clearly, which can lead to new perspectives on problems. The act of walking itself also encourages deeper breathing, which can help shift the body from a stressed state to a more relaxed one.
During a walk and talk counselling session the conversation will be guided by your needs and goals for therapy. The pace will be adjusted according to your needs, but is generally quite slow. On the walk you will be given plenty of opportunity to stop, rest and take in your surroundings. Tracks will be mainly flat and we don’t cover big distances.
These sessions are one-on-one and face to face, with an option for the first assessment session to be done online via telehealth.
Sessions are 60 minutes in duration and are charged at $120 an hour (Cancellation fees apply).
Free initial 30-minute discovery phone call included.

Park Counselling Sessions
If walk and talk isn’t really your thing, but you would still like to try counselling sessions in nature, another option is to sit in a park. Being outdoors encourages mindfulness as you focus on your surroundings, tune in to the sounds of nature, and feel the breeze, which helps to ground you in the present moment.
There are a number of specific exercises or reflections based on the natural environment that we can engage in to encourage deeper connection to the natural environment and therapeutic experience. Spending time in nature can improve your mental health and wellbeing, by reducing stress and improving mood.
Nature’s calming effects can facilitate deeper emotional processing, making it easier for you to confront difficult issues.

Beach Counselling Sessions
I also run counselling sessions at the beach either early morning or in the late afternoon around sunset. These sessions can include some aspects of walk and talk therapy, sand play, nature art and mindfulness practices.
Practicing mindfulness in nature significantly lowers stress levels and can also foster a deeper connection with the environment. Mindfulness can also help to improve attention, memory, and concentration. Also, being present in nature can allow you to experience its rhythms and beauty more fully in order to be more present in your daily life.
